The Adicts

The Adicts, formed in Ipswich, Suffolk, England, emerged from the late‑1975 punk scene under the name The Afterbirth before settling on The Adicts; the founding lineup included Keith “Monkey” Warren on vocals, brothers Pete “Pete Dee” Davison and Michael “Kid Dee” Davison on guitar and drums, and bassist Mel “Spider” Ellis. Their debut album Songs of Praise was released in 1981, featuring tracks such as "How Sad" and "Joker in the Pack", and was reissued in 1984. The group’s first single, "Viva La Revolution" (1982), released through Fallout Records, entered the UK independent charts. Subsequent releases—Sound of Music (1982), Smart Alex (1985), Fifth Overture (1986), Twenty Seven (1992), Rise & Shine (2002), Rollercoaster (2004), Life Goes On (2009), All The Young Droogs (2012), and And It Was So! (2017)—were accompanied by extensive touring across the UK, Europe, and the United States, including a 2009 tour with Die Toten Hosen. The group experienced several label changes, signing with Sire, Warner Bros., and later Nuclear Blast.
