Wonderwall is a German pop band that was founded in Cologne in 1994. The founding members are Kathrin Schauer (born December 25, 1981 in Cologne), Daniela Förstel (born March 17, 1982 in Cologne) and Julia Beck (born September 11, 1983 in Leverkusen). The band is characterized by catchy, romantic, vocal-based acoustic pop with folk influences. All songs are self-written and in English. In May 2001, Wonderwall released their first single "Witchcraft", which reached number 77 in the German singles charts. The breakthrough came with the single "Just More" in May 2002, which climbed to number 2 in the German charts and stayed there for 22 weeks. The accompanying debut album Witchcraft is released in the same year and reaches number 4 in the German album charts. This is followed by the second album What Does It Mean? in November 2003, which reaches number 48 in the German charts. In 2004, the band released their third album Come Along, but after declining sales, Paul and Schauer announced in August 2005 that they would put their career on hold until 2008. In 2008, the band is re-formed with Ela Paul, Jana Reiß (*1982 in Kaiserslautern) and Jessica Bremes (*1983 in Mönchengladbach). The single "This Is Christmas" is released in November 2009. Since 2011, the group has only consisted of Ela Paul and Jessica Bremes. The band's last single "Me and the City" was released on May 13, 2011, after which the band called it a day.
