Swedish death metal band Vomitory was formed in Forshaga in 1989, before disbanding in 2013 and being reborn in 2018. Founded by brothers Urban Gustafsson (guitar) and Tobias Gustafsson (drums), the band first evolved into a trio with bassist and vocalist Ronnie Olson, then expanded into a quintet for the recording of their first single, "Moribund " (1991). Signed by Dutch label Fadeless Records, Vomitory unveiled their debut album Raped in Their Own Blood in 1994, then parted company with their singer, replaced by Jussi Linna on the following Redemption (1999), which also welcomed bassist Erik Rundqvist. This was the band's first record for the independent American label Metal Blade Records, to which they remained loyal. Building on their international reputation, they successively released Revelation Nausea (2001), Blood Rapture (2002) and Primal Massacre (2004), the latter with guitarist Ulf Dalegren, replaced by Peter Ãstlund from Terrorize Brutalize Sodomize (2007). After two further albums with sulphurous themes, Carnage Euphoria (2009) and Opus Mortis VIII (2011), Vomitory announced its separation and played a final concert on December 27, 2013. Tobias Gustafsson and Erik Rundqvist then formed Cut Up, which recorded two albums for the same label. Reunited for the first time in 2017 for a concert, the Swedish band reunited more regularly the following year and, after the Covid-19 pandemic, embarked on a tour in 2022, then got down to work on their ninth album, All Heads Are Gonna Roll (2023), which reached number 70 in Germany. Three years later, Vomitory release their tenth album, In Death Throes.
