Sparks Go Go

SPARKS GO GO is a Japanese rock band formed in 1990 by three former members of the band Be Modern—Shinichi Yakuma (vocals, bass), Atsuya Tachibana (guitar), and Tetsuya Tachibana (drums). The trio had previously regrouped briefly with Tamio Okuda as THE BAND HAS NO NAME before launching their current project on May 21, 1990. The band is known for its solid rock sound and has remained active for over three decades, producing numerous albums and singles. After their early work with major labels, they launched their own labels—iSGG Recorders in 2001 and rudle&records in 2003—allowing them more creative freedom. Over the years, SPARKS GO GO has frequently collaborated with other artists and participated in special units, such as ABEX GO GO with Yoshiharu Abe in 1997. Their live performances, particularly the recurring JUNK! JUNK! JUNK! concerts in their hometown of Kutchan, Hokkaido, are a hallmark of their career. These events, along with JUNCTION concerts held in venues across Japan, have become fan favorites. In 2020, they made their complete discography—432 songs from 57 releases—available on streaming platforms. Their compilation 35 Special & 24 Special Best (2025) reflects their enduring legacy and musical evolution.
