Ooochie Koochie

Ooochie Koochie is a music unit formed in 2025 by two veteran Japanese artists, Tamio Okuda and Koji Kikkawa—both born in 1965 in Hiroshima. Okuda debuted in 1987 as a member of the rock band Unicorn and began his full-fledged solo career in 1994, while Kikkawa started in 1984 and gained recognition not just in music but across entertainment. In recent years, their conversations at various music festivals led to a growing friendship and eventually the idea of working together. That shared vision, born over drinks and laughter, became reality with the launch of *Ooochie Koochie*. The name reflects duality—past and present, near and far—and mirrors the contrasting journeys both artists have taken. Their debut marks a symbolic tribute to their hometown and a bold, celebratory collaboration as they both reach their 60th birthdays. Their first album, Ooochie Koochie (2025), embodies the spirit of freedom, experience, and unpredictability, making this project a thrilling and playful fusion of two enduring talents.
