Formed in Utrecht in 1997, Rank 1 are the iconic Dutch trance duo consisting of Ron van Kroonenburg and Benno de Goeij. Rank 1 first gained massive recognition with their 1999 anthem “Airwave”, a track that remains a classic and a staple in trance music sets decades later. Over the years, Rank 1 have released numerous successful singles and albums, collaborated with other trance legends, and performed at major festivals around the globe, including Tomorrowland, A State of Trance, and Electric Daisy Carnival. Their commitment to innovation while staying true to their melodic roots has cemented their legacy as trance pioneers. They have released several full-length albums, such as a 20th anniversary deluxe version of their 2002 debut Symsonic, while Benno de Goeij is also known for his collaboration with Armin van Buuren as part of the production team behind Gaia, further solidifying his influence in the electronic music world.
