Ned's Atomic Dustbin was an English rock band formed in Stourbridge, West Midlands, in November 1987. The group consisted of frontman Jonn Penney and featured two bass players in their lineup. Named after an episode of The Goon Show, Ned's Atomic Dustbin quickly gained a strong fanbase by supporting local heroes The Wonder Stuff on their UK tours in 1989 and 1990. Their debut release, the EP The Ingredients, was followed by the single "Kill Your Television", which reached number 53 in the UK singles chart and topped the UK independent singles chart. This success led to a major label deal with Sony Records through their own Furtive label. In March 1991, they released their debut album God Fodder, which peaked at number 4 in the UK Top 40 albums chart. The band's subsequent releases included "Trust" and "Happy", both of which earned them Top of the Pops appearances. Ned's Atomic Dustbin toured extensively throughout the early 1990s, releasing notable albums such as Are You Normal? (1992) and Brainbloodvolume (1995). Despite their success, tensions with Sony Records led to their eventual split in New York City following a final show in 1995. After disbanding, frontman Jonn Penney formed Groundswell, but Ned's Atomic Dustbin reunited in 2000 and have performed sporadically since then. Their music has been featured in various video games and films, including NCAA Football 2006 and So I Married an Axe Murderer.
