La Original Banda El Limón, founded in 1965 in El Limón de Los Peraza near Mazatlán, Sinaloa, is one of Mexicoâs most enduring and influential banda sinaloense groups, known for their powerful blend of rancheras, corridos, cumbias, and boleros. Originally led by Salvador Lizárraga, the group became a major force in regional Mexican music, especially after rebranding as La Original Banda El Limón de Salvador Lizárraga in 1997. They gained international acclaim with hits like "Derecho de antigüedad," "Di que regresarás," and "El Mejor Perfume," which earned them a Latin Grammy award for Best Regional Mexican Song in 2012. The success continued with releases like El Primer Lugar and Fin de Semana, and their 2018 live album Un Auditorio Muy Original showcased their ongoing popularity. Following the passing of Salvador Lizárraga in 2021, the band carried forward his legacy with El Presente Es Lo Que Cuenta, blending tradition with contemporary sounds. In 2024, they released the LP Momentos, whose lead single "Dos Palabras" peaked at number 26 on the Billboard Regional Mexican charts. 2025 found La Original Banda El Limón de Salvador Lizárraga shifted into an anniversary cycle, releasing multiple standalone singles (including âEnamorado,â âTraguitos De Licor,â and âLa Vida Es Cortaâ) alongside the live album Historia y Tradición, Vol. 1 (En Vivo) and the EP 60 Aniversario: El Legado Continúa. In 2026, they launched a new studio era with the single âTeam Anticupidoâ and issued the compilation album Entre Besos y Heridas.
