Fucked Up are a Canadian hardcore punk band formed in Toronto, Ontario, in 2001. Their core lineup brings together Damian Abraham on lead vocals, Mike Haliechuk on lead guitar, keyboards and vocals, Josh Zucker on rhythm guitar and backing vocals, Sandy Miranda on bass and backing vocals, and Jonah Falco on drums, guitar, keyboards and backing vocals. After early 7-inch releases such as "No Pasaran" and "Baiting the Public," the band collected part of that first period on Epics in Minutes and released its debut album, Hidden World, in 2006. Fucked Up moved further beyond straight hardcore with The Chemistry of Common Life in 2008, released through Matador and winner of the 2009 Polaris Music Prize. In 2011, the group issued the rock opera David Comes to Life, one of its key concept albums, before continuing with Glass Boys in 2014 and the broader, guest-heavy Dose Your Dreams in 2018. Alongside those records, Fucked Up built the long-running Zodiac series, stretching from Year of the Dog to the large-scale Year of the Horse. Ben Cook, who joined in 2007, left the band in 2021. In 2023, Fucked Up returned with One Day, a more direct record shaped around the idea of each member recording their parts within 24 hours. The concept continued in 2024 with Another Day and the surprise album Someday. In 2025, the band launched Grass Can Move Stones with Year of the Goat, then followed in 2026 with Year of the Monkey, extending the Zodiac narrative through a final multi-part cycle on Fucked Up Records and Tankcrimes.
