NOFX

A veteran band of the Californian punk scene founded in Los Angeles, California, in 1983, NOFX have remained true to their original spirit since their first album, S&M Airlines (1989). Led by the tandem of Fat Mike (singer and bassist) and Eric Melvin (guitar), the quartet's popularity peaked in 1994 with the release of Punk in Drublic, representative of the adolescent rage they have retained, thanks in particular to such powerful tracks as "Linoleum". Regardless of fashions, NOFX traversed the 2000s with the albums Pump Up the Valuum (2000), The War on Errorism (2003), Wolves in Wolves' Clothing (2006), before celebrating 20 years of recording (and 25 years of existence) with Coster in 2009. After the anthological The Longest EP in 2010, NOFX continued their love affair with pop-punk in shorts with the release of Self Entitled (2012), followed by an extensive tour. The band, scheduled to headline Hellfest on the occasion of the festival's tenth anniversary in 2015, follows up with the interview-based autobiography NOFX: The Hepatitis Bathtub and Other Stories, for which each chapter is written by a past or present band member. A little later, it is accompanied by a 4-title EP entitled Hepatitis Bathtub. 2016 saw the release of First Ditch Effort, followed in 2018 by the single "There's No 'Too Soon' If Time Is Relative", a tribute to the physicist Stephen Hawking, who had passed away shortly before. In 2019, the single "Fish in a Gun Barrel" was released to denounce the mass killings in the United States. After a collection shared with folk composer Frank Turner, West Coast vs. Wessex (2020), NOFX returns to its style of mixing punk variants with Single Album (2021) and the participation of Avenged Sevenfold on one track, then Double Album (2022). In 2024, after the release of the Half Album EP, NOFX announces its retirement from the scene with a farewell tour, and releases a track dating from 2013, "Barcelona", included on the A to H compilation (2025).
