Bones UK

Punk and electro pop-tinged rock band Bones UK formed in 2014 after singer Rosie Bones and guitarist Carmen Vandenberg met in a blues kitchen in Camden Town. Vandeberg grew up with a technical understanding of music, first learning violin and then (after seeing a recording of Jimi Hendrix's Woodstock performance) classical guitar. She went on to study at the Academy of Contemporary Music in London and, while still a teenager, worked as a session musician for Dave Stewart and Kate Nash. Rosie Bones, meanwhile, started performing as a drummer but made the switch to guitar to better support her songwriting. Not long after the pair met, they began playing together and quickly drew the attention of Jeff Beck. He invited them to co-write on the 2016 album `Loud Hailer' and gave them a support slot on his tour. Since that initial breakthrough, Bones UK have released several singles leading up to the 2019 launch of their eponymous 2019 debut album, bringing together a heavy industrial sound and feminist lyrics. At the end of 2019 the band won a Grammy nomination for Best Rock Performance.
