Young Empires was a Canadian rock band formed in Toronto in 2009 by Matthew Vlahovich, Jacob Palahnuk, and Robert Aaron Ellingson, with Taylor Hill joining in 2011. They released online demos and videos recorded in their bedrooms and rehearsal rooms. They performed at events such as the Nem-Catacoa Festival in Bogota in 2010 and the Juno Awards in 2011. Their debut EP Wake All My Youth was released under Pirates Blend Records in 2012, followed by the album The Gates (2015). They disbanded in 2022 after a six-year hiatus. Palahnuk died in 2023 due to a heart-related issue. Their discography also includes the singles "Enter Through the Sun" (2011), "White Doves" (2012), "We Don't Sleep Tonight" (2012), and "Uncover Your Eyes" (2015).
