Willi Carlisle

Originally from Kansas, Willi Carlisle is an old-time folk and country singer, songwriter and musician. Steeped in the American musical tradition in a family where his father was a polka musician, he grew up assimilating the folk, bluegrass and country genres, performing in school shows and singing in a choir. A graduate of the University of Arkansas, where he majored in poetry, he embarked on a career as a musician, recording the self-produced EP Too Nice to Mean Much (2016), followed by the album To Tell You the Truth (2018). Signed to Free Dirt Records, he saw his audience grow with the album Peculiar, Missouri (2022), before continuing with Signature Sounds for the next, Critterland (2024), produced by Darrell Scott and critically acclaimed. The Magnolia Sessions follows at the end of the year, then in 2025 the fifth opus Winged Victory.
