Charley Crockett

Charley Crockett was born Matthew Charles Crockett on March 24 1984 in San Benito, Texas, and grew up in a trailer park in Los Fresnos before moving to Dallas. He taught himself guitar and songwriting after leaving high school at 17, busking in New York and later forming the street band Train Robbers, which attracted a Sony Music representative. In 2015 he self‑released A Stolen Jewel, followed by In the Night (2016) and Lil G.L.'s Honky Tonk Jubilee (2017). Subsequent releases-Lonesome as a Shadow (2018), The Valley (2019), Welcome to Hard Times (2020), Music City USA (2021), The Man from Waco (2022), and $10 Cowboy (2024)-entered the Billboard 200. Lonesome Drifter and Dollar a Day (both 2025) continued the chart presence. Charley Crockett received the 2021 Emerging Artist of the Year award at the Americana Music Honors and Awards, performed on Jimmy Kimmel Live! and NPR Tiny Desk, and signed with Island Records in 2025. Age of the Ram was released in April of 2026.
