The Down Hill Strugglers, originally known as the Dust Busters, are an American old-time string band trio from Brooklyn, New York. Formed in 2008 by Craig Judelman, Eli Smith, and Walker Shepard, the band released their debut album, The Dust Busters the following year. The band toured extensively across the United States and Europe, performing at festivals including the Bourgas International Folklore Festival in 2010. Following Judelmanâs departure in 2012, multi-instrumentalist Jackson Lynch joined the group, which subsequently renamed itself The Down Hill Strugglers. Later that year, they released Old Man Below (2012) on Smithsonian Folkways, an album that went on to win the Independent Music Award for Best Bluegrass Album in 2013. The group continued recording and touring, releasing Lone Prairie in 2017 on Jalopy Records.
