Union Carbide Productions was a Swedish rock band formed in Gothenburg in 1986 by Ebbot Lundberg, Patrik Caganis, Björn Olsson, Per Helm, and Henrik Rylander. The members originally met at a U.K. Subs concert in 1981 and debuted live on June 14, 1986, at the Save the Forest festival. The group released their first album, In the Air Tonight, in 1987. They performed at CBGB's in New York in 1988 before releasing Financially Dissatisfied, Philosophically Trying in 1989. Following the 1991 release of From Influence to Ignorance, the band recorded their final studio album, Swing, in Chicago with producer Steve Albini. Union Carbide Productions disbanded in December 1993, though several members subsequently formed The Soundtrack of Our Lives. The group briefly resumed activity for a reunion performance at Hultsfredsfestivalen in 2003. In 2013, the band's entire back catalogue was re-mastered and issued on vinyl in limited editions.
