Dungen

Dungen was formed in 1999 in Stockholm, Sweden, around singer and multi-instrumentalist Gustav Ejstes. He writes the vast majority of the songs, but is joined by guitarist Reine Fiske, bassist Mattias Gustavsson and drummer Fredrik Björling, later replaced by Johan Holmegard. Drawing their influence from 1970s progressive rock, they made a name for themselves with two limited-edition vinyl releases in 2001 and 2002, Dungen 1 and Dungen 2. The latter brought the band to the attention of Swedish label Subliminal Sounds, who decided to reissue it in CD format the same year under the title Stadsvandringar. After Ta Det Lugnt in 2004, and despite singing exclusively in Swedish, Dungen went on to export to the UK and even the USA. But when Tio Bitar was released in 2007, the band's ascent was curtailed by their decision not to tour in support of it, preferring instead to concentrate on their fifth album, entitled... 4, released in 2008. Two years later, it was the turn of Skit It Alt to hit the stores, before a long recording hiatus that only came to an end in 2015 with the release of Allas Sak.
