The Swedish pop singer Tove Lo has experienced a rapid rise through the music business since releasing the single 'Habits'. She received some criticism for the song's unashamed electro pop presentation which masked the darker lyrical content which reportedly chronicled her dependency on drugs following the break-up of a relationship. The song had been released independently a year earlier and it wasn't until she signed to Universal Music that the song began to take off after a long gestation at the lower reaches of the charts, eventually peaking at number three in the US selling over 2.6 million copies. The singer was brought up in a wealthy district of Stockholm and enjoyed a privileged upbringing attending the Rytmus Musikergymnasiet, a school specialising in music and the performing arts. After leaving school she formed the band Tremblebee before eventually signing a songwriting deal with Warner Chappell in 2011. Since the release of 'Habits' she has released three albums with her latest album 'Blue Lips' being released in 2017.
