Total Science

Total Science is the collaborative alias of UK artists Jason Greenhalgh and Paul Smith. The duo met on the Blackbird Leys estate in Oxford and began sharing a passion for hip hop before pivoting to hardcore in the early 1990s, which led to extensive record collecting, DJing, and eventually production. Their first joint recordings emerged under the name Funky Technicians in 1994 with the single "You Gotta Believe", a release that helped shift the label’s focus from the darkside movement toward outlets such as Lucky Spin, Basement, and Good Looking. In 1997 they founded the CIA label, releasing the Silent Reign EP for Goldie’s Metalheadz and later a Bad Company remix of "Champion Sound" on their own imprint. Total Science’s debut album, Advance, arrived in 2000, followed by a series of Audio Works releases and the 2004 album Good Game. Subsequent albums include Jungle Jungle (2001), Baby Oil (2002), Going In Circles (2005), and Defcom 69 (2008). Their catalog features notable remixes such as "Nosher" (Baron Remix) and "Monkey See Monkey Do" (Baron Remix), and the group has maintained a steady presence on the electronic music scene through consistent releases and collaborations, solidifying their role as influential contributors to the genre.
