Ben Settle, known professionally as Edâ¯Rush, was born in 1973 in London, England and established himself as a producer of drumâ¯&â¯bass music. After selfâreleasing early whiteâlabel singles such as "I Wanna Stay in the Jungle" in 1992, he gained attention on the London pirate station Donâ¯FM, where he met DJâ¯Trace and began releasing tracks on Noâ¯UâTurn Records. The breakthrough came with the 1995 single "Guncheck", which helped define the emerging techstep style. In 1997, Edâ¯Rush & Optical released the album Wormhole, a pivotal release that introduced the neurofunk subgenre. Subsequent albums, including The Creeps (2000), The Original Doctor Shade (2003), Chameleon (2006), Travel the Galaxy (2009), and No Cure (2015), marked a steady output of influential work. Notable singles such as "Watermelon" (1999) were adopted by DJâ¯Craze, while "Frontline" featured in the 2008 video game Wipeoutâ¯HD. Edâ¯Rush coâfounded Virus Recordings, releasing his material and supporting other drumâ¯&â¯bass acts. His live appearances spanned major clubs and festivals, including Fabric, Glastonbury, and Bestival. In 2015, the mix CD FabricLiveâ¯82 was released, cementing his legacy within the drumâ¯&â¯bass community.
