Ed Rush

Ben Settle, known professionally as Ed Rush, was born in 1973 in London, England and established himself as a producer of drum & bass music. After self‑releasing early white‑label singles such as "I Wanna Stay in the Jungle" in 1992, he gained attention on the London pirate station Don FM, where he met DJ Trace and began releasing tracks on No U‑Turn Records. The breakthrough came with the 1995 single "Guncheck", which helped define the emerging techstep style. In 1997, Ed Rush & Optical released the album Wormhole, a pivotal release that introduced the neurofunk subgenre. Subsequent albums, including The Creeps (2000), The Original Doctor Shade (2003), Chameleon (2006), Travel the Galaxy (2009), and No Cure (2015), marked a steady output of influential work. Notable singles such as "Watermelon" (1999) were adopted by DJ Craze, while "Frontline" featured in the 2008 video game Wipeout HD. Ed Rush co‑founded Virus Recordings, releasing his material and supporting other drum & bass acts. His live appearances spanned major clubs and festivals, including Fabric, Glastonbury, and Bestival. In 2015, the mix CD FabricLive 82 was released, cementing his legacy within the drum & bass community.
