Tiktaalika

Tiktaalika is a music project by British guitarist Charlie Griffiths, who is best known for his work with the progressive metal band Haken. The name Tiktaalika is derived from a prehistoric fish, which is regarded as a link between water and land dwellers. Tiktaalika's music moves between alternative metal, groove metal, progressive metal and thrash metal. The project was created by Charlie Griffiths to express his own musical visions and to create a wider range of soundscapes. The debut album Tiktaalika was released in 2022 and contains nine tracks, including the singles "Arctic Cemetery" with guest vocals by Tommy Rogers and "Luminous Beings" with Danïel De Jongh. The album was praised by critics and received positive reviews for its complex structure and creative approach. The second album Gods Of Pangaea followed in 2025. The solo project has since matured into a band with bassist Conner Green and drummer Darby Todd. The album comprises eight songs, including the title track "Gods Of Pangaea" and "Tyrannicide", which also features guest contributions from Danïel De Jongh. This album was also well received by the metal scene, with the dark, epic elements and precise instrumentation being particularly emphasized.
