Sweden's The Haunted have made a name for themselves worldwide with an effective recipe for fusion thrash metal mixed with groove and melodic death metal. Formed in Gothenburg in 1996, The Haunted quickly exploded beyond the borders of their native Sweden, and after The Haunted in 1998, they began touring the world with Made Me Do It in 2000. One Kill Wonder is considered one of metal's most important albums of 2003, taking The Haunted as far afield as Australia and South Africa. rEVOLVEr in 2004 continues in the same vein. Although The Dead Eye (2006) and Versus (2008) are less than stellar, The Haunted remain thrash metal icons with 2011's Unseen. After a major lineup renewal in 2012, The Haunted released Exit Wounds in August 2014. Since the departure of guitarist and vocalist Anders Björler in 2012, his twin brother and bassist Jonas has become the band's leader, continuing with the album Strength in Numbers (2017). Dormant since the Covid-19 period, The Haunted returned in 2025 with the album Songs of Last Resort.
