Thursday

Thursday, an American post‑hardcore group from New Brunswick, New Jersey, formed in 1998 by vocalist Geoff Rickly, guitarist Tom Keeley, bassist Tim Payne, drummer Tucker Rule, and guitarist Bill Henderson. The band released its debut EP Summer Tour in 1999, followed by the album Waiting the same year, which introduced the raw sound that would define their early work. After Henderson’s departure, Steve Pedulla joined, and the band signed to Victory Records, releasing Full Collapse in 2001, which reached number 178 on the Billboard 200. In 2002, Thursday signed to Island/Def Jam and issued War All the Time, debuting at number 7 on the Billboard 200 and spawning singles such as "Signals Over the Air" and "War All the Time". Subsequent releases-A City by the Light Divided (2006), Common Existence (2009), and No Devolución (2011)-were issued through Epitaph Records, with Common Existence reaching the top 200 of the Billboard 200 and earning critical acclaim. The band announced an indefinite hiatus in 2012, later confirming a disbandment that year. After sporadic reunions in 2016, 2018, and 2021, Thursday released the single "Application for Release From the Dream" in 2024, marking their first new material in 13 years.
