US rock band Thrice were formed in Irvine, California in 1998 and started out their musical career playing an uncompromising blend of punk-influenced post-hardcore rock. The band are consummate musicians and their early albums are defined by complex arrangements overlaid with heavy riffs and frequent changes of time signature. Performing within such a narrowly defined music style has meant significant commercial success eluded the band for much of their early career. By the time of the release of their third album 'The Artist in the Ambulance' in 2003 the band's material had become more accessible to a wider audience and two singles from the album 'All That's Left' and 'Stare at the Sun' made it into Billboard's Alternative Songs Chart. The band have always supported charitable causes and each album has had a nominated charity which received a portion of the album's profits. The band have now released ten studio albums as well as individual members participating in a number of side projects.
