Thrice

Thrice, a rock band from Irvine, California, was formed in 1998 by guitarist and vocalist Dustin Kensrue and guitarist Teppei Teranishi during their high school years. The group initially gained attention for its heavily distorted guitar-driven sound, evident on their debut album The Illusion of Safety (2002). Thrice's early lineup included Eddie Breckenridge on bass and Riley Breckenridge on drums. Their first release was the EP First Impressions, followed by the album Identity Crisis in 2001, which was reissued by Hopeless/Sub City Records after the band signed with the label. Thrice's breakthrough came with The Illusion of Safety, which received critical acclaim and led to a major-label deal with Island Records. Their subsequent albums, including The Artist in the Ambulance (2003), featured notable singles such as "All That's Left" and "Stare at the Sun". The band continued to evolve musically with Vheissu (2005), which incorporated electronic elements and experimental arrangements. Their double album, The Alchemy Index, was released in two parts: Fire & Water (2007) and Air & Earth (2008). Throughout their career, Thrice has been known for donating a portion of their album sales to various charities. The band's discography includes notable releases such as Major/Minor (2011), To Be Everywhere Is to Be Nowhere (2016), and Palms (2018). They followed with the diptych Horizons / East (2021) and Horizons / West (2025). In between was recorded The Artist in the Ambulance - Revisited, comprising new versions of the 2003 album.
