The Lively Ones

The Lively Ones, a surf-rock band from Southern California, formed in 1962. The group consisted of guitarists Jim Masoner and Ed Chiaverini, bassists Ron Griffith and Joel Willenbring, and drummer Tim Fitzpatrick. Their breakthrough came with the release of their first album Surf Rider in February 1963 under Del-Fi Records. Throughout 1963, they released three more albums: Surf Drums, This Is Surf City, and Surfin’ South Of The Border. Notable songs include "Surf Rider" (a cover of The Ventures' song) and "Rik-A-Tic", which became hits. Despite their popularity, the Lively Ones disbanded in 1965 due to the declining interest in surf rock following the British Invasion. Their music gained renewed attention in 1994 when "Surf Rider" was used in the film Pulp Fiction.
