The Amity Affliction

The Amity Affliction are an Australian metalcore band from the small gold mining town of Gympie, Queensland. They were formed in 2003 by school friends Troy Brady and Ahren Stringer and cite a wide variety of bands as musical influences including Slayer, Nirvana, Metallica and Black Sabbath. Their debut studio album was titled 'Severed Ties' and upon its release in 2008, briefly entered the Australian Charts at number 26. The subject matter of the band's material frequently references suicide, violence and substance abuse and this has led to some controversy on social media where the band have been criticised for using graphic images on the cover of 'Chasing Ghosts' released in 2012. They have released a further four albums and although three of them have debuted at number one in the ARIA Charts, they have yet to enjoy widespread commercial success.
