Tanghetto, a neotango and electronic tango music project led by musician and producer Max Masri, was formed in Buenos Aires, Argentina, in 2003. Their debut album Emigrante (Electrotango) was released later that year, inspired by Argentina's economic crisis. The album achieved platinum status in Argentina in 2006 and was nominated for a Latin Grammy Award in 2004. Their second album Hybrid Tango (2004) incorporated various world music styles and was also nominated for a Latin Grammy Award. The studio albums El miedo a la libertad (2008) and Más allá del Sur (2009) brought their first Gardel Award, while Incidental Tango (2012), Hybrid Tango II (2014) and Progressive Tango (2015) consolidated a catalog that mixed tango with electronics, rock and jazz, complemented by live releases like VIVO and VIVO Milonguero and by the acoustic in-studio set Desenchufado (2016). In 2020 they issued Reinventango, followed in 2021 by Tanghetto Plays Piazzolla, both recognized with major award nominations and extensive touring. In 2023 Tanghetto released Argentinxs, a collaborative album with guests including Fito Páez, León Gieco, Pedro Aznar and Adriana Varela, and celebrated 20 years with shows at key Buenos Aires venues and the live album En Vivo 20 Años (2025), which won Best Tango Album at the 2025 Latin Grammy Awards.
