Bajofondo

Bajofondo, an Argentinean-Uruguayan musical group, was formed in 2001 to create a contemporary version of tango and other Río de la Plata region styles. Led by Gustavo Santaolalla and Juan Campodónico, their debut album Bajofondo Tango Club (2002) featured guest artists like Jorge Drexler and Adriana Varela, winning the Gardel Prize and Latin Grammy for Best Instrumental Pop Album. The group released subsequent albums including Mar Dulce (2007), Presente (2013), and Aura (2019). Notable songs include "Pide Piso" (2013) and "Absente" (2020). Bajofondo has collaborated with artists such as Elvis Costello and Nelly Furtado, and their music has been featured in film, television, and commercials. The group has toured extensively, performing at festivals like Coachella and Glastonbury, as well as venues including Disney Concert Hall and Lincoln Center.
