Steve Taylor

Roland Stephen Taylor, known as Steve Taylor, was born on December 9, 1957, in Brawley, California. He is an American singer-songwriter, record producer, music executive, filmmaker, assistant professor, and actor. Taylor's musical journey began during his high school years at Northglenn High School. His breakthrough came when he was signed to Sparrow Records by Billy Ray Hearn in 1982 after performing at the Christian Artists' Music Seminar. Taylor released his debut solo project I Want To Be A Clone in January 1983, followed by his first full-length album Meltdown in 1984. Throughout the 1980s, Taylor received notable recognition, including a Grammy nomination for "Best Male Gospel Performance" in 1985. He also founded Squint Entertainment in 1997, which launched the careers of artists like Sixpence None the Richer and Chevelle. After a hiatus from performing music, Taylor returned in 2010 as the front-man for Steve Taylor & The Perfect Foil.
