Stellastarr*

Stellastarr, formed in New York City in March 2000, consisted of vocalist and rhythm guitarist Shawn Christensen, bassist and vocalist Amanda Tannen, drummer and keyboardist Arthur Kremer, and lead guitarist and vocalist Michael Jurin. The group emerged from former Pratt Institute classmates who had previously performed as Ghistor, and their debut performance took place at Luna Lounge in July 2000. Early releases included a limited series of homemade EPs, followed by the single "Somewhere Across Forever" in 2003, which helped establish the band’s presence on the independent scene. Stellastarr released its self‑titled album Stellastarr on 23 September 2003, produced the single "Jenny" in the same year, and later issued Harmonies for the Haunted in 2005, with "Sweet Troubled Soul" charting at Number 48 on Radio and Records Alternative charts in the United Kingdom. The band’s third studio effort, Civilized, debuted on 7 July 2009 and featured the singles "Graffiti Eyes" and "Numbers". Throughout its career, Stellastarr toured extensively across the United States, United Kingdom, Canada, Mexico, Japan, and Europe, sharing stages with Jane's Addiction, Placebo, and The Killers. After releasing Civilized, the group entered an indefinite hiatus; members pursued separate artistic ventures, including Christensen’s Academy Award‑winning short Curfew (2012). The band’s legacy remains documented through its catalog and the continued work of its former members.
