State of Shock, a Canadian alternative rock band from Vancouver, British Columbia, was formed in 1999 by guitarist Jesse Wainwright and drummer Johnny Philippon, completed by Cam Melnyk (vocals), Simon Clow (guitar), and Alison Toews (bass). The group made their debut in June 2004 with the album Guilty by Association after winning CFOX-FM's Seeds contest. They gained significant recognition in early 2007 with the release of their second album, Life, Love & Lies, which included the successful single "Money Honey". This track won them a Juno Award nomination for New Group of the Year and multiple Canadian Radio Music Awards. The band enjoyed chart success with "Hearts that Bleed" and went on a Canada-wide tour supporting acts such as Nickelback and Puddle of Mudd, as well as opening for Aerosmith at Sarnia Bayfest in 2007. Their third studio album, Rock 'n Roll Romance, was released in September 2011.
