Born in Lagos State on 22 August 1982, Slimcase (real name: Oluwafemi Oladap), is a Nigerian Afrobeats sensation renowned for his infectious energy, unique sound, and ability to seamlessly blend Afrobeat rhythms with contemporary street styles. Rising from the vibrant music scene of Lagos, Slimcase has become one of the genre’s most charismatic and influential artists, known for his ability to craft hits that resonate across diverse audiences both in Nigeria and globally. Slimcase’s musical journey began in the early 2010s, where he initially honed his craft as a performer and songwriter within the Nigerian underground music scene. Drawing influence from a rich tapestry of Nigerian genres, including Afrobeat, dancehall, and street pop, Slimcase quickly developed a signature sound that blends rhythmic beats with catchy hooks and playful lyrics. His style reflects the pulse of Nigerian street culture while appealing to a mainstream audience, making him one of the most sought-after voices in the Afrobeats movement. He first gained significant recognition in 2017 with the release of his hit 2018 single, "Otunba Lamba", a track that introduced his distinctive sound—a fusion of Afrobeat grooves with streetwise swagger and Yoruba-infused lyrics. This was followed by an array of successful releases, including 2019's "Azaman" and 2024's "We Dey There." At the beginning of 2025, he cracked the UK's Top 20 Afrobeats Songs chart with "OBLEE."
