Skullcrusher

Helen Ballentine, known professionally as Skullcrusher, was an American indie folk singer-songwriter born in Tarrytown, New York. She attended the Hackley School and later graduated from the University of Southern California with a degree in graphic design. After playing piano for most of her life, Ballentine decided to pursue music full-time, writing her first song "Places/Plans" in 2019. The single was released on April 21, 2020, and marked the announcement of her debut self-titled EP Skullcrusher, which came out on July 24, 2020 via Secretly Canadian. The EP featured production contributions from Los Angeles musician Noah Weinman, known professionally as Runnner. Notable songs from this period include "Day of Show" and the pair of singles "Farm" b/w "Lift", released on October 19, 2020. Ballentine's debut album Quiet the Room was released on October 14, 2022. Following a cover of The Hated's "Words Come Back" in March 2023, Ballentine recorded her sophomore album And Your Song Is Like a Circle, released on October 17, 2025 and featuring the viral song "Living".
