Rocket from the Crypt, a punk rock band from San Diego, California, was formed in 1990 by John Reis. The original lineup included guitarist Andy Stamets, bassist Pete Reichert, drummer Sean, and backing vocalist Elaina. After releasing their debut album Paint as a Fragrance in 1991 on local label Cargo Music, the band gained significant attention with their second album Circa: Now! in 1992. This led to a recording contract with Interscope Records, where they released several notable albums including Scream, Dracula, Scream! (1995) and Rftc (1998). The band's energetic live performances and creative approach to music videos for songs like "On a Rope" and "Born in '69" contributed to their popularity. In 2005, Rocket from the Crypt disbanded after playing a sold-out farewell show on Halloween in San Diego. Despite disbanding, the band reunited briefly in 2011 and again in 2013 for performances across the US, Europe, and Australia. Their impact on alternative music is evident, with bands like Jimmy Eat World and Unbroken citing them as an influence.
