Jose Robert Anderson Tapia, known as Roberto Tapia, was born on February 3, 1981, in San Diego, California. He is an American singer of Mexican ancestry who specialized in clarinet and other instruments at the Instituto Sinaloense de Cultura in Culiacán, Sinaloa, Mexico. Roberto Tapia's professional debut came in Tijuana, Baja California, alongside fellow Sinaloan artist El Lobito de Sinaloa. In 2002, he released his self-titled debut album under Sony International, blending regional Norteño music with hints of electronica and hip hop. Roberto Tapia's career saw significant milestones including the release of El Muchacho in 2012, which hit Number 1 on Billboard's Top Latin Albums chart. He also appeared as a coach on the first two seasons of La Voz Kids on Telemundo Network. Notable albums include Mi Niña (2013), and 20 Corridos Bien Perrones (2016). He then updated his sound on Esto Es Sólo el Comienzo (2017) and explored classic ranchera repertoire on Por Siempre Ranchero (2019). Roberto Tapia entered the streaming era with El Joven de la Sonrisa in August 2021, led by songs like "El Águila" and "Volver Contigo", and maintained a steady flow of digital singles including "La Tostada CH" (2023) before issuing the career-spanning compilation Edición Deluxe Máxima Maquiladora de Éxitos in 2022.
