Operator Please

Operator Please, an Australian rock band originating from the Gold Coast, Queensland, formed in early 2005. The group consisted of vocalist and guitarist Amandah Wilkinson, drummer Tim Commandeur, keyboardist Chris Holland, bassist Ashley McConnell, and violinist Taylor Henderson. They initially came together to compete in their high school's "Battle of the Bands" competition, which they won. Following this victory, Operator Please recorded and self-released the EP On the Prowl in 2006, featuring an early version of "Just a Song About Ping Pong". Their second EP, Cement Cement, garnered significant local and international attention, leading to a signing with Virgin Records. In July 2007, Operator Please released their debut single "Just a Song About Ping Pong", which peaked at number 12 on the ARIA Charts. The song won the ARIA Award for Breakthrough Artist – Single at the ARIA Music Awards of 2007. Their debut studio album, Yes Yes Vindictive, was released in November 2007 and reached number 28 on the ARIA albums chart. The band toured extensively throughout Europe and Asia, and their second album, Gloves, was released in April 2010, peaking at number 20 on the ARIA album chart. Operator Please's final single from Gloves was "Catapult", released in January 2011. The group split up in 2011, with members pursuing other projects.
