Chinonso Obinna Amadi, known professionally as Nonso Amadi, was born on September 1, 1995, in Lagos, Lagos State, Nigeria. He is a singer, songwriter, and music producer who began his musical journey while studying chemical engineering at Covenant University. In 2015, he released his debut EP Alone, followed by the single "Tonight", which peaked at Number 9 on Playdata charts and was recognized as one of MTV Base's hottest Nigerian songs of 2017. Amadi collaborated with notable artists such as Banky W., Maleek Berry, M.I., and Juls early in his career. His subsequent releases include the joint EP War with Odunsi (The Engine) in 2017 and the solo EP Free in 2019. After a hiatus, Amadi returned with the single "Foreigner" in 2022. His debut studio album When It Blooms, released on May 26, 2023, was produced by Amadi and featured collaborations with Beam, Zinoleesky, Tay Iwar, Tamera, and Majid Jordan. When It Blooms received a Juno nomination for Contemporary R&B Recording of the Year. Amadi followed in January 2024 with the release of the four tracks EP Blended, a collaboration with Emotional Oranges. Later that year, he featured with Qing Madi on Preston Pablo's "Dance Alone". In 2025 was released the hit single "Dive In", ranked number 42 on Billboard's Afrobeat Songs chart.
