Gabriel "Gabzy" Akinyemi, born in London on January 22, 1996 to a Nigerian family, is a singer and songwriter who has established his own style at the crossroads of Afrobeats, R&B, soul and Afrofusion. Discovering his passion for music at an early age (he was singing in his school choir from the age of 9), he began writing his own songs at 14, drawing inspiration from genres as varied as reggae, hip-hop and African rhythms. He came to prominence in 2016 with the Summers EP, produced with American producer Melvitto, which climbed the UK Afrobeats charts and racked up over a hundred million listens. Gabzy follows this up with the Malone EP (2020), followed by At the End of the Night (2022). He sold out several London venues before returning with the singles "Jambazz" (ranked 18th in the Afrobeats charts in 2023), "Too Fine" and "Round 1" in 2024. In 2025, he released the hit "Too Much Sense", a duet with Fireboy DML, which reached #15 in the UK Afrobeats charts and #42 in the USA.
