Myrkur

Myrkur is the black metal and dark folk project of the Danish musician and composer Amalie Bruun, who was born in 1985. Initially maintaining anonymity regarding her identity, Bruun debuted with the eponymous EP Myrkur (2014) through Relapse Records, handling most instrumental and production duties herself. Her debut studio album, M, was released (2015) to critical acclaim and featured production by Kristoffer Rygg. Bruun followed this with the live recording Mausoleum (2016) and her second studio album, Mareridt (2017), the latter of which won the “Album of the Year” award at the Metal Hammer Golden Gods Awards. Her musical style shifted toward traditional Scandinavian folk with the release of the album Folkesange (2020), which utilized narrative storytelling and acoustic instruments. Her discography also includes the studio album Spine (2023) and the soundtrack recording Ragnarok (2023).
