Mineral, an American emo band from Houston, Texas and Austin, was formed in 1994. The group included Chris Simpson on vocals and guitar, Scott McCarver on guitar, Jeremy Gomez on bass, and Gabriel Wiley on drums. Their debut album, The Power of Failing, released in 1996, received critical acclaim. The band signed to Interscope Records during the production of their second album, EndSerenading, but disbanded shortly before its release in 1998. After a hiatus of over 15 years, Mineral reunited in April 2014 and released remastered versions of their two albums. They celebrated their 25th anniversary with new songs "Aurora" (2019) and "Your Body is the World" (2019), a retrospective book, and announced a world tour in 2019, which was cut short due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The band disbanded again in 2025.
