Marshmello is an American DJ who gained attention not only with his multi-platinum electronic dance music, but also with his ecstatic live performances and patented marshmallow-shaped head mask. Born as "Christopher Comstock" in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, he began to release mysterious mixtapes in 2015 and revealed his identity in 2017. He made his album debut that year with Joytime, which went to Number 5 on Billboard's Top Dance/Electronic Albums Chart. His follow-up release, Joytime II, topped the chart in 2018. He charted 23 tracks on Billboard's Hot Dance/Electronic Songs during the following three years, including chart-toppers like 2017's Khalid duet "Silence" (which was hit Number 1 on the Dance Club Songs Chart and Number 3 on the UK Singles Chart), 2017's Selena Gomez collaboration "Wolves" (which peaked at Number 3 on the R&B/Electronic Chart and Number 9 in the UK), 2018's "Fly" (which featured Leah Culver and reached Number 7 on the Dance/Electronic Chart), and 2018's "Friends" (which featured Anne-Marie, topped the US Dance Chart, went to Number 4 in the UK, and hit Number 11 on the Hot 100). Joytime III was released in 2019 and became Marshmello's second album to top the Dance Albums chart in America. One year later, he partnered with rap artist Juice Wrld on the hit single "Come & Go," which charted at Number 2 on the Billboard Hot 100, and earned another Top 40 hit with the Halsey track "Be Kind." Shockwave, his third album, followed in 2021, as did "Love Me Before You Leave," his international Top 10 duet with the Jonas Brothers.
