Madeline Kenney

Madeline Kenney is an American musician, singer, songwriter and producer, born in Seattle, Washington, on November 17, 1991, and based in Oakland, California. She began her musical career after studying neuroscience and working as a pastry chef. Her debut EP Signals (2016), was produced by Chaz Bear (Toro y Moi). In 2017, she released her debut album Night Night at the First Landing, followed in 2018 by Perfect Shapes, produced by Jenn Wasner (Wye Oak), which marked an evolution towards more experimental sounds. Her style, blending indie rock, dream pop and art pop, is characterized by complex compositions, subtle arrangements and ethereal vocals. She followed this up with Sucker's Lunch (2020), again with Wasner on production, then A New Reality Mind (2023), a self-produced album on which she further asserted her sonic identity. Alongside her music, she is also a painter and music video director, and regularly collaborates with other artists on the American indie scene. Her fifth album, Kiss from the Balcony, was released in 2025.
