Los Reyes del Cuarteto

Los Reyes del Cuarteto formed in early 2002 in Junín, Buenos Aires, led by accordionist and director Julio “Grillo” Núñez, alongside founding vocalist Jorge “Cúcuta” García (replaced in 2004 by Gonzalo Moyano), pianist Lucas Rodríguez, bassist Elian Carrizo, percussionists, and a growing ensemble that eventually reached seven members. Their inaugural independent album Volumen I debuted in August 2005, featuring hits like “Apareciste tú” and a cuarteto rendition of Suéter’s “Él anda diciendo,” signaling a shift toward exclusive cuarteto repertoire. In 2006 and 2007, Volumen II (featuring “Onda Cuartetera”) and Volumen III (introducing Mauro Crosetto on “Te veo mañana”) solidified their lineup and expanding audience. A prolific period followed with Volumen IV in 2008 (“El ring tone,” “Piel de azúcar”), Volumen V in 2009, and their first major live album Los Reyes del Cuarteto – en Vivo 2011, capturing performances in La Pampa and Santa Fe and spotlighting tracks like “Un gusto a mujer” and “Bailando con la Carla.” Transitioning toward digital releases, they issued Volumen VII: El más buscado in 2013 ("Aparentemente," "Jenny"), La octava maravilla live in 2014, Cosas nuestras in 2017 (with Damián Córdoba on “Quién más que tú”), and Evolución in 2018 (introducing Luciano “El Galgo” Castro and Guillermo “Chicharra” Bottega with standout tracks “Mala noche” and “Lloviendo estrellas”). Their 2020 sync of live and studio material appeared in De caravana con Los Reyes, followed by the 2021 digital single “Volverás a mi cama” (featuring Fabián Show) and the 45-minute mix A bailar que se acaba el mundo. Adopting digital-first strategy, they released singles through 2022 and 2024—including “Vuela Vuela,” “Que Cachetada,” “No podrás (en vivo),” “Ángela, Más Que Amiga,” “Todavía No Sé,” and “Nasa”—while welcoming new vocalists Axel Montaña in 2022 and background vocalist Tiziano Montaña in 2024.
