Mikaela Mullaney Straus, known professionally as King Princess, was born on December 19, 1998, in Brooklyn, New York. She is an American singer, songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, and actor. Straus spent much of her childhood learning various instruments at her father's recording studio, Mission Sound. In February 2018, King Princess released her debut single "1950", which was a commercial success and later certified platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA). She followed this with her second single "Talia" in April and her debut extended play Make My Bed in June. In October 2019, King Princess released her debut studio album Cheap Queen, which received widespread critical acclaim. The album included notable songs such as "Ohio", "Pain", and "Prophet". She performed at major festivals including Lollapalooza, Coachella, and Glastonbury. In 2022, King Princess released her second album Hold On Baby and embarked on the Hold On Baby North American tour. She also contributed to the soundtrack of the animated TV show Arcane with the song "Fantastic" for its second season. In 2025, she released her third full-length Girl Violence, featuring singles "RIP KP", "Cry Cry Cry", and "Girls."
