Jeannie Ortega

Jeannette Ortega was born on November 19, 1986, in Bushwick, Brooklyn, New York, and pursued a career as a singer. Early exposure to music came through her participation in the Brooklyn High School of the Arts, where her track "Got What It Takes" was featured on the soundtrack for the 2003 film Love Don't Cost a Thing. In 2005, she released the single "It's R Time", which later appeared on the Freedom Writers soundtrack. Ortega signed with Hollywood Records in 2002 and, in 2006, issued her debut album No Place Like Brooklyn, which entered the Billboard Top Heatseekers chart at Number 1; the single "Crowded" peaked within the top twenty‑five of the Billboard Hot 100. She opened for Rihanna on the 2006 world tour and later joined the Lo Máximo de la Música national tour with artists such as Frankie J and Luis Fonsi. After being dropped by Hollywood Records, she transitioned to Christian music, signing with AIC Records and releasing the EP New Day in 2011. Ortega followed with the albums Perfect Love (2012) and Love Changed Me (2016). Her career has been marked by chart success, notable collaborations, and a shift toward faith‑based artistry, with her work continuing to be distributed under AIC and her own publishing imprint.
