Hermitude, an Australian electronic hip-hop duo, was formed in 2000 by multi-instrumentalists Luke Dubber and Angus Stuart. Originating from the Blue Mountains, New South Wales, the duo began collaborating in bands since 1994. After Stuart returned from a trip to the US with turntables, Hermitude was officially established. Their debut release, Imaginary Friends EP, came out on vinyl-only format in 2002 through Elefant Traks label. The duo's first album, Alleys to Valleys, was released in August 2003 and gained them support billing with international acts such as Dizzee Rascal and DJ Krush. In 2012, Hermitude released their fourth studio album, HyperParadise. This album included the single "Speak of the Devil", which won the J Award for Music Video of the Year in 2011. Their subsequent album, Dark Night Sweet Light, was released in May 2015 and peaked at Number 1 on the ARIA Charts. The album featured the multi-platinum selling song "The Buzz" which reached number 20 on the charts. In September 2019, Hermitude released their sixth studio album, Pollyanarchy, followed by Mirror Mountain in 2022.
