Héritage des Celtes

Héritage des Celtes is a Pan-Celtic ensemble founded in 1993 in Quimper, France, by guitarist Dan Ar Braz and producer Jacques Bernard. Created to celebrate the 70th anniversary of the Festival de Cornouaille, the group featured musicians from diverse Celtic nations. Their debut album, Héritage des Celtes, was released in November 1994 and sold over one million copies. In 1995, they issued the live album En concert, which earned a Victoire de la Musique award in 1996. The group represented France at the 1996 Eurovision Song Contest with the Breton-language song “Diwanit bugale”, finishing nineteenth. Subsequent releases included Finisterres in 1997 and Zénith in 1998, both contributing to their international success. The ensemble performed sold-out shows at venues like Bercy before disbanding in August 2000. In 2002, the live album Nuit Celtique au Stade de France was released following their final major performances.
