Frida Gold

Frida Gold is a German pop group from the Bochum area. The band formed in 2005 under the name Linarockt when vocalist Alina Süggeler, guitarist Julian Cassel, and drummer Thomas Holtgreve united following Süggeler and Cassel's earlier group Amnesia. The ensemble renamed itself Frida in 2007 as its sound shifted to indie pop. In 2008, the group entered the Popakademie Mannheim band pool and signed with Warner Music. Its debut single, "Zeig mir wie Du tanzt", was released in 2010 and entered the German and Austrian charts in November. The debut album, Juwel, released on April 15, 2011, peaked at number 14 on the German chart and featured the singles "Unsere Liebe ist aus Gold" and "Gold". The group placed number 7 at the 2011 Bundesvision Song Contest with "Unsere Liebe ist aus Gold". Its second album, Liebe ist meine Religion, released on June 28, 2013, debuted at Number 1 and featured the number 4 single "Liebe ist meine Rebellion". The band released the live album Liebe ist meine Religion Live + Akustisch in 2013, the single "Run Run Run" in 2015, and the album Alina in 2016, which reached number 23. After switching to Polydor in 2019, the group issued acoustic versions of "Wach" and "Verletzbar" and the single "Wieder geht was zu Ende" with Samy Deluxe. The band earned the Radio Galaxy Award in 2011 and the Regenbogen Award in 2012.
