Formed in 2010 in Regina, Saskatchewan, Foxwarren is the side project of singer-songwriter and producer Andy Schauf, known for his critically acclaimed solo albums. It features musicians Dallas Bryson (guitar), Darryl Kissick (bass) and Avery Kissick (drums). The band takes its name from the small Manitoba town of Foxwarren, in homage to a place linked to the family of one of the members. Their music is a blend of indie rock, soft pop and folk, characterized by subtle arrangements, hushed harmonies and meticulous production. Although the members have been collaborating since the early 2010s, Foxwarren only reunited occasionally, for the recording of a first self-produced album entitled Has Been Defeated and released in January 2011, and then for Foxwarren, released in 2018 on the Anti- and Arts & Crafts labels. The album received critical acclaim for its analog warmth, introspective compositions and band cohesion. In 2025, the quartet made a comeback with album 2, also released on the Anti- label.
